Canada's First Wireless Taxi Directory Service Offers Location-Sensitive
Information at your Fingertips
OTTAWA, Nov. 28 /CNW/ - SK8 Wireless Technologies Inc.'s TakeaTaxi.ca,
Canada's first mobile taxi directory service, today announced its agreement
with Rogers(TM) AT&T(R) Wireless to include TakeaTaxi.ca as part of the menu
of mobile sites offered to Rogers AT&T Wireless customers. The bilingual
wireless Web site is accessible from the 'Get Info' category of navigate
mobile Internet available on all GSM/GPRS Rogers AT&T Wireless' phones. It
offers users a listing of taxi services for all cities in Canada and the US
(TakeaTaxiUSA.com). The sites are accessible through all Internet-enabled
wireless phones, PDAs, as well as the conventional World Wide Web. The taxi
listings are sorted by city and province/state and offer a one-touch dialing
feature.
"Rogers AT&T Wireless prides itself on bringing tangible value to
customers that addresses their needs, and providing wireless access to
TakeaTaxi.ca allows us another way to do just that," says Upinder Saini,
Director, Wireless Internet Marketing, Rogers AT&T Wireless. "Whether in an
unfamiliar city on business, or simply trying to organize a way home after a
night out during the busy holiday season, TakeaTaxi.ca eliminates the need to
remember the taxi company name - just browse by city and with one touch,
connect to a chosen taxi service by phone. We're confident our customers will
be thrilled with this addition to our navigate mobile Internet service."
By offering the TakeaTaxi.ca application, Rogers AT&T Wireless provides
its customers with a simple way to call a taxi in any city across North
America. After launching the TakeaTaxi .ca site on their phone, customers
simply enter the city they are located in and a listing of all available taxi
services appear for that city. After a taxi service is selected, takeataxi.ca
instantly connects the customer by automatically dialing the phone number of
the selected taxi service.
"Our services enable wireless carriers to offer customers up-to-date
information at their fingertips," says Bill Wilson, Director of Business
Development, SK8 Wireless Technologies. "More and more customers are expecting
and demanding this 'anywhere' service and are embracing mobile devices to
achieve this flexibility and convenience."
