SK8 Wireless Technologies is an innovative new company specializing in business to consumer wireless internet solutions. SK8 Wireless merges the power of the conventional internet with the fast-growing wireless technology structure giving customers the ability to instantly access information anywhere with the use of internet accessible portable devices, such as cell phones, pagers, and PDAs.
Accessing information is only the beginning. The wireless internet on mobile devices is a prevalent means of delivering a broad range of online services to consumers, including paying, buying, bidding and making reservations with your Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) phone. These services are a reality in parts of Europe and Asia. The technology to make this a reality in Canada is available, but the services are few and far between. SK8 Wireless fills this niche by developing innovative information based WAP-enabled sites, such as www.TakeaTaxi.ca. SK8 Wireless also offers businesses looking for early penetration into the explosive wireless internet customer base, the services of converting existing conventional internet websites to WAP-enabled sites accessible on mobiles devices.
"Our services allow businesses to offer customers up-to-date information at their fingertips. More and more customers are expecting and demanding this ‘anywhere’ service and are embracing mobile devices to achieve this flexibility and convenience," says Bill Wilson, Director of Operations, SK8 Wireless Technologies.
According to the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA), over 8 million Canadians now use wireless products and services. During 1998 alone, wireless telephony grew by nearly 30% adding over 1 million customers. Today over 41% of Canadian households have access to a mobile phone. The CWTA estimates the wireless industry is a $5 billion industry in Canada.
